Frequently asked questions.

General Doula Services

Q: What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help birthing people achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.

Q: What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A midwife provides medical care and can deliver babies. A doula offers non-medical support such as comfort techniques, advocacy, and guidance throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum.

Q: When should I hire a doula?
The earlier, the better—ideally in your second trimester—so we can begin building a relationship and planning for your birth and postpartum needs.

Q: Do you support hospital, home, and birth center births?
Yes! I support births in all settings and help you feel confident and supported wherever you choose to give birth.

Q: Will you support me if I choose or require an epidural or C-section?
Absolutely. My role is to support your choices and ensure you feel empowered, informed, and comforted—no matter how your birth unfolds.

Virtual Support

Q: Do you offer virtual doula services?
Yes! I offer virtual support via phone, video calls, text, and email for prenatal, labor, and postpartum care.

Q: How effective is virtual doula support?
Virtual support can still provide emotional grounding, guidance, and coaching during labor. Many families find it empowering and accessible.

Lactation Counseling

Q: What does a lactation counselor do?
I help with breastfeeding challenges, latch issues, milk supply concerns, pumping, and feeding plans customized to your needs.

Q: Do you offer in-person or virtual lactation visits?
Both! Depending on your location and preference, I can meet in person or provide video consultations.

Childbirth Education

Q: What childbirth classes do you offer?
I offer private and group classes that cover labor stages, comfort measures, partner support, postpartum planning, and newborn care.

Q: Can I take a class if I’m planning a C-section or epidural birth?
Yes! My classes are inclusive of all birth plans and focus on helping you feel informed and empowered.

Payment & Policies

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, flexible payment plans are available. We can set up a schedule that works for your budget.

Q: Is my deposit refundable?
Deposits are generally non-refundable, as they secure your spot. Full details are outlined in the service contract.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, debit/credit, PayPal, Zelle, and CashApp. Payment method will be confirmed during our initial meeting.

Prenatal & Postpartum Support

How many prenatal visits do you offer?
Depending on your package, I offer 1–3 prenatal visits to discuss birth preferences, comfort techniques, and preparation.

Q: Do you offer postpartum support?
Yes! I offer postpartum visits to help with recovery, breastfeeding support, emotional check-ins, and newborn care.

Q: What if I go into labor in the middle of the night?
I offer 24/7 on-call availability starting at 37 weeks until birth. Call or text me when labor begins—day or night.
